I just finished reading a new Hubspot post of motivational quotes to get everyone excited about selling in 2017. I love motivation, as well as inspiration (the two are very different). As a Hubspot customer, and often recommender, I was surprised that of the 50 quotes, only 7 were from women.
Why does this stand out to me?
There are more women than men in North America (176M to 171M in 2011)
More than 50% of college grads are women. (55% of undergrads were women in 2014)
We have a massive SHORTAGE of women in sales and sales leadership.
Maybe it is hard to find motivational business quotes from women but I think IT IS WORTH THE EFFORT. What if ONE MORE WOMAN GOT INSPIRED TODAY and considered a great career in B2B sales? That is not to say than anyone cannot inspire others – it’s just that successful women leave clues for other successful women. Let’s get excited about more women bringing more revenue to sales teams. (you can quote me on that!)
Where are the women inspiring others?
The original 7 great quotes mentioned by women are these, in alphabetical order:
Trish Bertuzzi – Lean in, speak out, have a voice in your organization, and never use the word, “sorry”.
Audrey Hepburn – Nothing is impossible; the word itself says “I’m possible!”
Jill Konrath – I get lucky because I never gave up the search. Are you quitting too soon? Or are you willing to pursue luck with a vengeance?
Florence Nightingale – I attribute my success to this: I never gave or took any excuse.
Eleanor Roosevelt – No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
Sheryl Sandberg – If you’re offered a seat on a rocket ship, don’t ask what seat – just get on!
Oprah Winfrey – What we dwell on is who we become.
Are There More? YES!
In this search, I put out my feelers and we came up with (thanks everyone) HUNDREDS more. There are quotes for independent women, #girlquotes,
